Meet our interns and volunteers.
Leighann Blackwood is a recent college grad from Sonoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration. She enjoys taking time to serve in the community and had the privilege of working with S.A.Y. (Social Advocates for Youth), where she was able to serve as a peer mentor to youth in transition from the foster care system.
Her passion to work with eating disorders, depression, and self-harm is fueled by her desire to uplift and encourage individuals to realize that their true worth and happiness comes not from societal approval, but from within. Additionally, she aspires to continue to pursue her education by obtaining her Master of Arts in either Clinical Counseling, or a Master’s in Social Work.
Lisa Springer, RN
Lisa is a Registered Nurse who earned her BSN from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and now lives and works in Sonoma County. As an eating disorders advocate, she is passionate about educating people on the biology contributing to eating disorders, the medical complications they can lead to, and the evidence based treatment available. Lisa suffered from Anorexia Nervosa for seven years along with anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
She is now in a very strong stage of recovery which she attributes to professional treatment, support from family and friends, and her unrelenting perseverance, along with research and education on eating disorders.
