Karen Schneller is a licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. She has experience working in residential treatment centers, intensive outpatient programs, schools and private practice settings. Her most recent position was at a large Substance Abuse treatment center where as the Program Director, she lead a team building a co-occurring eating disorder and substance abuse program. She received intensive training in the treatment of eating disorders and their co-morbid pathologies over the course of her training and pursued certification as an Eating Disorder Specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) in 2013. Karen also served on the Board as the Marketing Chair for the Orange County, Ca Chapter of iaedp from 2011-2013.
One of Karen’s passions is eating disorder education and early prevention. As a way to give back to the community, for the last 8 years, Karen has offered free eating disorder support groups. She has also done many guest speaking opportunities at schools and non-profit organizations. Karen believes in compassionate and customized treatment with an emphasis on meeting the unique needs of each client. While working in treatment programs over the last 10 years, she has seen first-hand the power of treatment in combating this life-threatening disease.
Karen joined EDRS Board in January 2016 and serves as the Secretary.
